last night i posted this quote on instagram:
with this caption:
i just read an old bookslut post about simone weil that started: "the truth about life is still obscure because we only read those vain and energetic enough to write" which i agree with but i think this carson mccullers moment comes pretty close to ~the truth about life.~ today i fell asleep in pilates and then came home and made scottish oatcakes which i ate with butter and honey, so i am feeling absolutely lousy with womanhood tbh
it's all true and i fell asleep again immediately after posting and had a dream that i gained the ability to turn into a hot man at will (it wasn't a big deal, everyone was like... oh that happens sometimes) and i made out with oliver and he was like "oh wow i like this better"
in college i used to have a "character" i played named chad (before chad was a concept) who was a confident and hot guy. i would mostly become chad when i was feeling incapable of being hot as a woman, and usually it would make me feel better.
i never identified all that heavily with Being A Woman until i experienced Abuse and now i haven't thought about chad in a while, and i do things like crying and baking and stretching out forlornly yet erotically on my sheepskin rug and eating an edible and reading joan didion with incense burning. im so fking grateful for my ex
